The Royal Mint have just announced and shown the awaited new portrait of the Queen. It’s the 5th bust of the Queen (the 4th to appear on decimal coinage).
The engraver Mr Jody Clark (born 1981 in the Lake District) was selected from a group of Royal Mint engravers and specially invited artists. He chose to adorn the Queens head with the Diamond Diadem which was also featured on the Arnold Machin and Raphael Maklouf portraits of the Queen (1968-1984 and 1985-1997 respectively).
