Decimal Crowns with 25p Face Value

Commemorative Crown coins with a face value of 25p (the face value is due to their legacy old money value of Five Shillings) were struck in 1972, 1977, 1980 and 1981, in very large numbers! Because of their large size and weight they have never really circulated but are legal tender for 25p. They often get confused with the later £5 commemorative crowns, as their size and weight is identical.
