2022 Two Pounds

There were five 2022 dated £2 coins. The standard Britannia, Dame Vera Lynn, Alexander Graham Bell, the F.A. Cup and a 25 year £2 anniversary coin featuring the previous reverse. None of them circulated. The first four were all included in the annual set.

Mintage for Circulation: Not yet known.

The story behind the design:

The new obverse portrait by (Mr) Jody Clark was introduced in March 2015 and replaces the previous Ian Rank-Broadley portrait on all circulating coins. The new Britannia reverse, which replaced the ‘technology’ reverse, was also introduced in 2015.

The story behind the design: A commemorative for Dame Vera Lynn, who had passed away in 2020 (two years prior). Dame Vera was a singer and entertainer who was massively popular during WWII. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/jun/18/dame-vera-lynn-obituary

The story behind the design: A commemorative £2 to commemorate 25 years of itself! The reverse is based on the original design struck from 1997 to 2015, but with a subtle ’25’ hologram in the centre. The obverse is the same type as the others on this page but includes a small iron-age circle mint-mark under the Queen.
