Two commemorative crowns were issued in 2008. One to mark the 450th anniversary of the accession to the throne of Queen Elizabeth I in 1558 and another for the 60th birthday of Prince Charles.

The story behind the design:
The obverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley bust of the Queen. The reverse by Rod Kelly shows Elizabeth I within a leaf like patter in the style of original carvings by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. The dates in Roman numerals are 1558 and 2008. The coin has no date of its own.

The story behind the design:
The obverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley bust of the Queen. The reverse is also by Ian Rank-Broadley and shows the Prince of Wales facing right. At the bottom is his German motto ‘Ich Dien’ (I serve).
