Just one crown was released for 2016! They completely neglected the 1st Birthday of Princess Charlotte and 3rd Birthday of Prince George! Whatever next.

Edge: Milled edge. The proof versions have ‘FULL OF HONOUR AND YEARS’.

The story behind the design:

Issued to mark the forthcoming 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II on April 21st 2016. Some would say that due to competition from other private makers of coins, the Royal Mint seem to now issue commemorative coins well in advance of the event they are made to commemorate. Is it actually all about the profits I sometimes wonder. This particular coin was made available about four months before its event.
