So far there have been four 2020 dated £2 coins. The standard Britannia, Agatha Christie, D-Day and Mayflower (those four were all included in the 2020 annual sets).

The Standard £2 Coin:

Obverse Type 3 (bust design by (Mr) Jody Clark):

britannia2poundsobv

Reverse Type (design by Anthony Dufort):

2poundrev

Edge: QUATUOR MARIA VINDICO (I will claim the four seas).

Mintage for Circulation: Not yet known.

The story behind the design:

The new obverse portrait by (Mr) Jody Clark was introduced in March 2015 and replaces the previous Ian Rank-Broadley portrait on all circulating coins. The new Britannia reverse, which replaced the ‘technology’ reverse, was also introduced in 2015.

Commemorative £2 Coin, Type 54: (info on coin type numbers here)

Obverse Type 3b (bust design by (Mr) Jody Clark):

Reverse Type (design by David Lawrence):

Edge: LITTLE GREY CELLS.

Mintage for Circulation: Not yet known, currently available in sets only.

The story behind the design: This coin marks the 100th anniversary since the publication of Agatha Christie’s first novel (which featured Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who would often reference his ‘little grey cells’). Agatha Christie was born in 1890 in Torquay. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agatha_Christie

The story behind the design: VE-Day (Victory in Europe day) – the 8th May 1945. The day that Germany surrendered and in doing so ended the long and tragic Second World War (in Europe at least). The 75th anniversary of that event is marked with this coin. https://www.iwm.org.uk/history/10-photos-of-ve-day-celebrations

Obverse Type 3b (bust design by (Mr) Jody Clark):

Reverse Type (design by Chris Costello):

Edge: UNDERTAKEN FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.

The story behind the design: The Mayflower ship set sail from England and arrived in the new world (what is now the USA) in 1620, 400 years ago. After a harsh winter, the survivors established an early colony on the new continent. https://www.ushistory.org/us/3a.asp
