One simple and very different commemorative crown was issued in 2003 to mark the Golden Jubilee (50 years since the coronation) of the Queen.

The story behind the design:

Both sides are by Tom Philips and are certainly a departure from the norm. A sketched style simple outline of the Queen with ‘GOD SAVE THE QUEEN’ as the central message on the reverse with non-standard lettering used on both sides. Slightly controversial. This is what the artist had to say:
