The story behind the design:

Both the obverse and reverse are by Leslie Durbin. The obverse incorporates a small bust of the Queen in the style of the original portrait of the Queen for use on coins by Mary Gillick. The reverse shows the St Edward crown surrounded by forty trumpets and the promise ‘FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU’ which actually also appeared on the edge of the Queen’s coronation crown of 1953.
